San Francisco—June 12, 2024—The San Francisco Press Club today announced that Ethan Toven-Lindsey has joined its board of directors. Ethan Toven-Lindsey is the vice president of news for KQED. Before he came to KQED, he worked at WBUR and NPR on the midday newsmagazine Here & Now, in Boston, where he was the show’s senior managing editor. In 2009, Ethan won a Peabody Award for his work as a correspondent for Oregon Public Broadcasting on a year-long project called Hard Times, documenting how people were responding to the financial crisis.
“I am thrilled and honored to be joining the San Francisco Press Club board,” said Toven-Lindsey. “I am excited to further the work the Press Club is already doing sharing the value of journalism and the vital role it plays in our society. I have already been impressed by how thoughtful the Press Club has been in its approach to journalistic integrity, fostering opportunities for professional growth and collaboration, and sharing thought leadership in the ever-evolving media landscape.”
“Ethan’s journalism story has such a relatable beginning,” said Curtis Sparrer, the president of the SF Press Club. “He decided he wanted to be a journalist his sophomore year in college, when he realized that if he wrote about the football team, he could get into the games for free! Now twenty years later he is now a Peabody Award-winning radio journalist who is still focused on the best way to watch the California Golden Bears play football!”
